Conventions of a radio ad
A radio advert is used to give an insight to the documentary that is being advertised. There are various codes and conventions of a radio advert and certain features that are most likely to be used, for example
• The channel that the documentary will be played on will be mentioned
• The length of a radio ad will vary depending on the advertisement however it will be on average around 40 seconds long
• It will usually include a clips from the documentary throughout to give a preview of what is going to be shown.
• A voiceover is usually used for the radio ad to give an insight as to what is going to be featured within the documentary. Although a voiceover is used it should only give a brief overview of the product.
• The scheduling of the show should be announced
• There is usually a background track related to the documentary being advertised
• Usually a question will be posed that will then be answered in the documentary
